How are you learning Japanese?

Please post here some of your learning ideas on Japanese vocabulary and hiragana. I've noticed that some of my Japanese 1 students are struggling trying to learn Hiragana and I would like to know how you guys are practicing learning it. Your learning style may help your classmates, so please post here!!!!

  1. Well, here's how I learn. (It may work for you.)

First, make sure you have an excellent relation with the student. They will more willing to work and die for you if they trust you. Try going over what they love and are passionate about. Then supplement with mountains of positive reinforcement! [This takes time and work, A LOT of time and work.]

Second, once an emotional foundation is built (even if its small it will grow) write the hiragana several times. First as a demo, and then with the steps.

After you've written the hiragana let them write it. If they struggle, allow them to ask questions. One on one is GREAT! This third part requires the most flexibility.

    Shiken desu. Ganbatte Kudasai!
